“Toranomon area” grows as one big business base

For the Toranomon-Azabudai project, Mori Building is planning to develop a building with a height of 323meters in the “Dai-Gaiku” area close to the Toranomon area. The building is due for completion in 2023. In this project, other than the offices and houses, the largest international school in Tokyo and an international supermarket for expats will be developed on the site, which would support the foreign businessmen working in this area.

Focusing on the Toranomon area, as I have mentioned in the 2nd issue of the series, the rebuilding of the hotel Okura main building (38 storey, planned to start in March 2019) is progressing. Mori trust co. ltd. is constructing a large-scale redevelopment at the site of “Toranomon Pastoral” which is in the National Strategy Special Zone. A 32 storey (180meters in height) high-rise complex building “Toranomon Trust Tower” is planned to be completed in 2020. It is to be the core of the “Tokyo World Gate”. In addition, a new hospital and a 179meter high office tower (36 storey in height), is planned to be constructed as a cooperative redevelopment project of Toranomon Hospital, National Printing Bureau and Kyodo newsletter. It is aimed for completion in 2022.

Toranomon area can be expected to become a more international city surrounded by conventional international towns such as Akasaka, and Kamiya-cho. All the more, I think, the facilities which maintain the old culture of Japan like Osakaya Sunaba and Okura Shukokan (Okura museum of art) will become more important.
